Serious FishingRIGHT - it’s time to get away from all the fancy, elaborate descriptions featured on the rest of this site and knuckle down to the serious business of 'GOING FISHING'.
The waters around Nosy Be are alive with Sailfish, Marlin, Dogtooth Tuna, GT and Kuta. With 1000m drop offs; Castor, Leven, Grand and Voltigeur banks of 150 km in length and untouched reefs you cannot (and will not) be disappointed. On a dedicated fishing charter it is also possible to get as far as Cap Saint Sebastian – another excellent fishing ground.
The catamarans cruise at around 5 knots and enjoy good sports fishing, regular catches of Giant Trevelly (Kingfish), King Mackerel, Barracuda and Bonito. Less regular, but by no means rare, are catches of Sail Fish, Blue and Yellow Fin Tuna and Marlin. The most rewarding and unusual are Dog Tooth Tuna and Wahoo – they are out there – somewhere! Gecko has caught both.

Reef fishing produces huge variety and excitement whilst other exciting options include fly fishing (from the shore and from the boat!) jigging and popping; drop shots; plugging and spinning; and fishing from a kayak - all can be enjoyed in and around mangroves, sand banks and deep or shallow waters rewarding you with great variety and enjoyment.
We have been fishing in these waters since 2006 on Gecko and have never ended a day without a fresh fish to enjoy for dinner. We can also arrange an optional sports fishing boat if required but it is not by any means essential.
All fishing photographs on this website are of fish caught on Yacht Gecko.
With all this experience and a forthcoming agency to market other catamarans MadagasCaT can assure you of professional service, a well arranged holiday and a lot of sound advice to help you on your way.
A quote from Gecko’s guest book: "This was definitely the holiday of a life time ... Type of fish caught: 22 King Mackerel; 10 Bonito; 6 Reef Sharks; 3 Barracuda; 2 Sweetlips; 8 Kingfish; 1 False Englishman; 2 Emperors and 3 Rock Cod". The Fair Family (This was by no means a serious fishing charter).
Our policy on Gecko is “Catch and Release” wherever possible – but always keep something for the pot. We would like our clients to respect this policy.
